Spark Volunteer Guide
Thanks for joining the Spark volunteer team! We’re so grateful you’re serving at our second-ever Spark Conference. We couldn’t do this weekend without volunteers like you, and we’re excited to have you on the team.
Before you arrive, please read through the Before You Arrive section first, then the information for your specific volunteer team below. If you have any questions, just email Spark Event Manager, Bec Hardman.

Before You Arrive
Everything you need to know before arriving at Spark.
Before You Arrive
Before you hit the road, make sure you’ve:
- Read the information for your volunteer team
- Read the KCC Code of Conduct and StayKCC Site Induction
- Checked your arrival time
- Packed everything you need for the weekend
- Saved Bec’s contact details in case you need to get in touch

Access the site via the StayKCC driveway off Cliff Drive and follow the signage. If you’re unsure where to go, check the site map.
Sign-in
When you arrive, head to the Spark Info Tent near the auditorium to sign in.
You’ll receive:
- Your volunteer name badge
- A contact card
Your name badge is your ID for the weekend, so please wear it whenever you’re on duty.
Volunteer Briefing
All volunteers are required to attend the Volunteer & Safety Briefing.

If you are unable to attend this briefing, please let Bec know before Spark.
Accommodation
Volunteers will stay in Mountain Camp or Clairvaux Quarters.
You’ll receive an email from Bec before Spark with your accommodation location and room allocation.
You’ll be sharing with volunteers of the same gender. Site Hosts will stay at their allocated accommodation site.
Meals
Volunteer meals are provided throughout the weekend at Mountain Camp Dining Room.
If you have a dietary requirement that you haven’t already told us about, please let Bec know as soon as possible.
Friday
Dinner: 6pm (Pizza in Mountain Camp Dining Room after the volunteer briefing)
Supper: 9.30pm
Saturday
Breakfast: 7:15am
Lunch: 12:30pm
Dinner: 6.00pm (Outdoor Plaza Area)

What to Pack
Please bring:
Sleeping bag or sheets
Pillowcase
Towel
Toiletries
Warm clothes
Pillows, doonas, heating and carpeted rooms are provided.
If you’re serving on the Parking or Muscle teams, please also bring wet weather gear.
Staying Healthy
If you’re feeling unwell before Spark, please stay home. If you have cold or flu symptoms, we encourage you to take a Rapid Antigen Test to help protect other volunteers and attendees.

AV Team
Arrival
Please arrive by 5pm on Friday and sign in at the Spark Info Tent.
After signing in, head to the auditorium to meet the AV team before the Volunteer & Safety Briefing at 5.30pm in the Mountain Camp Dining Room.
Team Leaders
Your team leaders are Steve Anderson and Danniebelle Whippy.
They’ll provide your role briefing and instructions throughout the weekend. If you have any questions, please speak to your team leaders or Bec Hardman.
Volunteer Responsibilities
Final role allocations may change slightly depending on event requirements and volunteer availability. Thanks for being flexible and willing to help wherever needed!
Bookshop Team
Arrival
Please arrive before 5.30pm on Friday and sign in at the Spark Info Tent.
After signing in, head to the Volunteer & Safety Briefing at 5.30pm in the Mountain Camp Dining Room. Dinner (pizza) will be served after the briefing, then you can make your way to the bookshop to meet the team and begin your duties.
Team Leader
Your team leader is Felicity Carswell from 10ofthose.
Felicity will provide your role briefing and instructions throughout the weekend. If you have any questions, please speak with Felicity or Bec Hardman.

Before Spark, please read the Bookshop Volunteer Guide. It contains everything you need to know about your role and the tasks you’ll be helping with throughout the weekend.
Cafe Team
Arrival
Please arrive by 5.00pm on Friday and sign in at the Spark Info Tent.
After signing in, head to the cafe in The Hub to meet the team before the Volunteer & Safety Briefing at 5.30pm in the Mountain Camp Dining Room.
Team Leaders
Your team leaders are Amy and Sam from StayKCC.
They’ll provide your role briefing and instructions throughout the weekend. If you have any questions, please speak with Amy, Sam or Bec Hardman
Volunteer Responsibilities
Roles within the cafe team will be allocated when you arrive and will be based on the skills and experience of the volunteers on shift. Thanks for being flexible and ready to jump in wherever you’re needed!
Muscle Team
Arrival
Please arrive by 4.00pm on Friday and sign in at the Spark Info Tent.
After signing in, meet the Muscle Team at the Info Tent for a team briefing and to help with final event setup before the Volunteer & Safety Briefing at 5.30pm in the Mountain Camp Dining Room.
Team Leader
Your team leader is Jayden.
Jayden will provide your role briefing and instructions throughout the weekend. If you have any questions, please speak with Jayden or Bec Hardman.
Volunteer Responsibilities
The Muscle Team helps make Spark happen! You’ll be involved in a variety of setup, pack-down and logistics tasks throughout the weekend, including setting up booklets, merchandise, morning tea and other event spaces.
No two shifts are the same, so please follow Jayden’s instructions and be ready to jump in wherever you’re needed. Your first team briefing will take place when you arrive on Friday afternoon.
Parking Team
Arrival
Please arrive by 5.00pm on Friday and sign in at the Spark Info Tent.
After signing in, meet the Parking Team at the Information Tent for a team briefing before the Volunteer & Safety Briefing at 5.30pm in the Mountain Camp Dining Room.
Team Leader
Your team leader is TBC.
TBC will provide your role briefing and instructions throughout the weekend. If you have any questions, please speak with TBC or Bec Hardman.
Volunteer Responsibilities
Before Spark, please read the Parking Team Volunteer Guide. It contains everything you need to know about your role and responsibilities.
Once parking duties are complete, you may be asked to assist the Muscle Team or Ushering Team. Thanks for being flexible and willing to jump in wherever you’re needed!
Info Tent Team
Arrival
Please arrive by 5.00pm on Friday and sign in at the Spark Info Tent.
After signing in, meet the team in the Info Tent for a briefing and help with final setup before the Volunteer & Safety Briefing at 5.30pm in the Mountain Camp Dining Room.
Team Leader
The Info Tent Team is led by a KCC staff member.
They’ll provide your role briefing and instructions throughout the weekend. If you have any questions, please speak with your team leader or Bec Hardman.
Volunteer Responsibilities
The Info Tent Team helps keep Spark running smoothly by supporting attendees and the KCC team throughout the weekend.
Your responsibilities may include:
Setting up signage and displays
Preparing and restocking merchandise
Assisting with merchandise sales
Helping attendees with general enquiries
Your tasks may vary throughout the weekend, so thanks for being flexible and ready to jump in wherever you’re needed!
Site Host Team
Arrival
Please arrive by 5.00pm on Friday, before guests begin arriving at your accommodation site.
After signing in at the Spark Info Tent, meet with Bec for a team briefing before the Volunteer & Safety Briefing at 5.30pm in the Mountain Camp Dining Room.
Team Leader
The Site Host Team is led by Bec Hardman.
Bec will provide your role briefing and instructions throughout the weekend. If you have any questions, please speak with her.
Volunteer Responsibilities
Before Spark, please read the Site Host Volunteer Guide and the Guest Briefing Information for your allocated accommodation site.
These resources include everything you need to know about your role, along with the key information you’ll be sharing with guests staying at your accommodation site.
As a Site Host, you’ll:
Welcome guests as they arrive
Help guests settle into their accommodation
Answer questions and provide helpful information
Support the KCC team throughout the weekend
You’ll often be the first KCC volunteer guests meet, so your warm welcome and friendly attitude will help set the tone for their Spark weekend.
Camping

Team Leader
Your team leader is Calum.
Calum will provide your role briefing and instructions throughout the weekend. If you have any questions, please speak with Calum or Bec Hardman.
Volunteer Responsibilities
Before Spark, please read the Ushering Team Volunteer Guide. It contains everything you need to know about your role and responsibilities.
As part of the Ushering Team, you’ll help create a welcoming experience for everyone attending Spark. Your responsibilities may include greeting attendees, helping people find their seats, assisting with venue operations and supporting the smooth running of each session.
